visited Bakka today and went above and beyond what was requested.

All children at the school were  de-wormed and provided vitamins.  They treated open wounds and did a high level assessment of all the children. Many have jiggers - bugs hatched and living in the children's feet. One student in particular will need a physical check up and some laboratory studies done as she appears to have a systemic infection displaying a generalized skin rash with many open and infected wounds.
We will be coordinating the treatment of jiggers and the open wounds. Digging the bugs and lava out of the feet.  A very painful process.

Show Mercy is  also going to be doing a Health Assembly at the school to teach the children how to prevent getting jiggers.
The best prevention is shoes. While the standard school shoe required at all schools is $25.00.  Mike told me about another shoe Naginas that only cost around $3.00 per pair. Next get healthy project shoes for every child at the school. NO CHILD SHOULD HAVE TO LIVE WITH BUG LAVA HATCHING IN THERE FEET. Donations needed and welcomed.

Loving a Village One Child at a time!

Tomorrow is going to be a very big day at the Christian Mission Academy.

1. Two Nurses from Show Mercy International will be going to the school and all the children are going to be de-wormed!  We will do this every semester going forward.

2. Every child in the Pre - Kindergarten - 1st Grade and 2 Grade class will be receiving mosquito nets.

3.All the female teachers and the girls 12 an older will receive a month supply of pads.  This will help to significantly reduce the number of days the girls will miss school.

God is blessing this project abundantly this year!  Every month I am so over joyed at the support that is being provided.  Thank you all so much.

Operation Get Healthy 

1. Every child at the school will receive a mosquito net in the next few weeks.

2. Treatment for de-worming the children will be scheduled this month. Cost $160.00 for the entire school.  This will be done every semester.

3. The children that attend the Christian Mission Academy  now have a health care plan.  They can go to the Field of Dreams Medical Center and receive treatment without having to pay.  Field of Dreams will send me a monthly bill for their treatment.

v     Malaria treated with pills- $2.00

v     Severe malaria requiring intravenous treatment $5.00

4.  We are still researching the cost of every child being vaccinated.

5. Still working on improving the children’s daily meals. 

We need 104 children sponsored to meet our monthly budget to feed the children and pay the teacher and we are still only at 78. 

The children returned to school on February 4^th.  We immediately began gathering data.

78 children are sponsored 70 were promoted,  8 children are repeating

The 7^th grade class continues to grow every year.

2010 – 4 students- 3 went on to middles school 1 dropped out

2011-  8 students – 5 went on to middle school 2 repeated 1 dropped out

2012 – 13 students- 12 went on to middle school 1 repeating 0 dropped out

2013 – 20 students- 14 were promoted from the 6^th grade 5 new students 1 repeating

 56 students fathers are dead

 23 students mothers are dead

Several students parents are very sick.  Many are total orphans taken in by guardians not all guardians care for the children.  The children are used as slaves. 

Sany Sankua – 4 years old recently became a total orphan when her dad died a couple weeks ago. She is no longer going to be attending the Christian Mission Academy.  Please keep this innocent child in your prayers.

Nelco – 11 years old in the 3^rd grade.   His mom is dying of HIV his dad died years ago.  Nelco has not returned to school yet.  Please keep him in your prayers. 

Secondary Student--  Thank you to everyone that donated to purchase the secondary students uniforms they  all will be receiving them this week.

Government Certification for the School

1. A new building – Library – Medical Center – Office – Kitchen  ~$25,000

Fundraising will begin in March for the Building.

2.  Benches for the class room $2,100.00 
3. 5 More teachers for the school
4.  Fence for the school- TBD
5.   228 pot  300 pot.  Half done ($300)
6.   Stronger gutter for the school to capture more water in the water tank  ($500)

Animal project

40 families received the gift of a hog. 7  hog delivered  a total of 61 babies- 21 will be passed onto another family paying it forward.

We are still looking for someone to investing in a sausage making business.  We have rented the machinery and tested the market it  proved to be successful. But the cost of renting the machinery did not provide the margin to generate revenue.  We need to purchase a stuffer and bowl cutter.

God is putting the pieces together and amazing things are happening!
